FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

I greet all of you my brothers and sisters in Christ and wish you all a happy and blessed New Year. The Lord challenged us at the Watch Night Service to think about the importance of learning to really trust Him. Psalm 127 begins with the words that give us much to think about.

“Unless the Lord builds the house they labor in vain who build it, Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain.” (Psalm 127:1)

How well do we really trust the Lord? Where in our lives do we hold back and refuse to fully trust Him. In order to really trust God we, of course, really need to know Him. This year’s journey of faith as a congregation and as individuals will involve many individual and group challenges. We grow in faith as we learn to draw closer to God. We must remember that without faith it is not possible to please God and that He rewards those who believe He exists and seek Him (Hebrews 11:6).

It is my fervent prayer that the Lord will raise us to higher spiritual levels in our walk with and before the Him. In those areas in our lives where we feel defeated, intimidated, weak, incapable, helpless, frustrated, etc., we will seek victory by the hands of the Lord. That will only come by means of recognizing our need for Him and yielding to Him. We must pray more, study His word more often, apply His word to our lives, and yield to His will for our lives.

Let us all join in a journey of faith in 2007 as we seek to grow closer to the Lord and trust Him to bring blessings and deliverance in our lives, families, and communities.

Be blessed and a blessing to others.

In His Name,
Pastor Barnes
